Holbrook potash website, public meetings announced

The Little Colorado RC&D has gone live with a "comprehensive new website on plans for potash mining in the Holbrook Basin www.holbrookbasin.org. The possibility of potash mining in the Holbrook Basin brings the likelihood of jobs and economic and community development, as well as challenges for preserving the water supply and other natural resources. To begin building a network of stakeholders and to build capacity to give the community a voice in decision-making, the RC&D has initiated the Holbrook Basin Horizons project and developed the On-line Guide to Potash. The RC&D’s goal is to be a catalyst for local engagement in planning for potash mining by supporting education and outreach and serving as an intermediary support organization (ISO). Utilizing the RC&D Council and its extensive network, the RC&D Board has authorized Project Coordination, enabling the RC&D to serve as a liaison to state and federal authorities as well as local stakeholders, with the objectives of making the most of opportunities and minimizing risks."
